Since it first debuted on May 31, 2000, CBS’s “Survivor” has become a reality-TV juggernaut, pumping out 40 American seasons starring hundreds of hungry castaways, and entertaining tens of missions of viewers. While the game has changed dramatically since those brave, ambitious men and women washed up on the beach of Borneo more than 20 years ago, one thing remains the same: the show lives and dies based on how well each season is cast.
