Thursday 1/2: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC/Hulu; Renovation, Reality)
One of the O.G. reality makeover shows from the 2000s returns for its second reboot — after a flop on HGTV during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic — this time hosted by Get Organized’s Joanna Teplin and Clea Shearer, with designers Arianne Bellizaire and Wendell Holland (yes, the winner of Survivor).
Friday 1/3: RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV; Reality Competition, LGBTQ)
Ring in the Ru year with 14 new queens competing in the 17th season of this Emmy-winning series. Katy Perry is the premiere guest judge, which probably seemed like a great idea at the time, but has aged like milk. This year’s twist involves a dunk tank that may or may not spare eliminated queens.
Saturday 1/4: They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce (ESPN 1am; Sports, Talk Show)
ESPN gets into the late-night game with this sports-based talk show hosted by Philadelphia Eagles center and certified hot piece Jason Kelce, which will air at 1am (!) for five Friday nights/Saturday mornings through the NFL playoffs. Expect a comedic approach with football stars and fans.
Sunday 1/5: 2025 Golden Globe Awards (CBS/Paramount+ 8pm; Awards Show)
Comedian Nikki Glaser takes on hosting duties — let’s see how spicy this gets — as the Hollywood Foreign Press celebrates the best in film and television. Viola Davis and Ted Danson will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Carol Burnett Award, respectively.
Sunday 1/5: Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches (AMC 9pm; Drama, Horror)
The first season of this Anne Rice adaptation (the source material being The Witching Hour, Lasher, and Taltos, which you wouldn’t necessarily know by the title) wasn’t great, but had enough redeemable elements — especially a great lead in Alexandra Daddario — for a sophomore run. Let’s hope it improves.
MUSIC
Very few new albums are releasing this week. If you’re looking for new music, check out our Best of 2024 Music list.
Sunday 1/5: Bad Bunny Debi Tirar Mas Fotos (Latin/Reggaeton/Trap)

Thursday 1/2: Cunk on Life (Netflix; Comedy, Documentary)
The brilliant Diane Morgan returns as Philomena Cunk in this “documentary” special focusing on investigating the origins of life on this planet, and the purpose for us all being here. Required viewing if you watched her hilarious Cunk on Earth series from a few years back.
Friday 1/3: Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (Netflix; Animated, Family)
The British stop-motion icons return for this new film concerning robot garden gnomes, petty incarcerated penguins, and plenty of charm.
