TOP 10: Disney Park Announcements from D23 2024

Disney wrapped up its big D23 annual fan expo this weekend, unleashing a slew of big announcements for Disney and all of its related IP (Star Wars, Marvel, etc.). Several of the Great Pop Culture Debate panelists are HUGE Disney fans, including our own Amy Pilott! Read on for her personal Top 10 most exciting announcements from this year’s D23!
This year’s announcements were Walt Disney World/theme park heavy, with changes being developed in multiple parks over the next decade (at least). Lots of big ideas were discussed, we just hope the Imagineers can deliver!
This news will be fun and exciting for some people, but let’s be honest — they are cruise ships and not parks, so it’s only moderately fun. You will still need to spend an extra life’s savings beyond your cruise to experience Disney.
9. New “Indiana Jones” Ride at Animal Kingdom
It will replace DinoLand U.S.A. I suppose people have always enjoyed the various different Indiana Jones rides at Disney parks, though it feels strange to start creating new ones in 2024…
8. Disney California Adventure Getting a Coco Attraction
Precious few details were given on this project, so I am not holding my breath — construction won’t reportedly begin until 2026 — but such an incredible film should lend itself to a beautiful ride.
7. Encanto Attraction Coming to Animal Kingdom
While this would have been a home run to replace the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, there’s a lot of DinoLand to retheme, so we will take it where we can get it! Just don’t talk about Bruno when you get there
6. TWO New Cars Attractions Coming to Magic Kingdom Frontierland
You can read about it here. Cars Land at Disney California Adventure is AMAZING — but unless they announce they are bringing Radiator Springs Raceway to Walt Disney World, this isn’t actually that exciting for me.
5. Lion King Ride Coming to Disneyland Paris
The first-ever Lion King ride is coming to Disneyland Paris. While a lot of theming at Animal Kingdom is centered around The Lion King, this will be the first attraction dedicated to the king of the jungle!
4. Monsters Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios
The monsters are coming — to Hollywood Studios! With Monsters Laugh Floor seemingly gone from Tomorrowland, it’s fitting that Mike and Sully get their own space in HS with a suspended roller coaster and themed area.
3. Avengers Assemble…In Asia!
Two announcements in one: The Avengers are headed to Disney’s Asian properties, with Spider-Man touching down in Shanghai, and a new Avengers campus in Hong Kong. These are big developments for those market, and will hopefully get the new California DL attractions in the future.
2. California Avengers Campus Will DOUBLE
Speaking of the California Avengers Campus: the Disney California Adventure area will DOUBLE in size, adding two new attractions! One of them will be “guided” by Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark! The DCA Avengers campus was the first of all the parks, so it is fitting that it’s getting expanded first as well.
1. Disney Villain Land is HAPPENING
The Villains are coming! The Villains are coming!!! A new Villains Land is coming to the Magic Kingdom! This is HUGE! Few details were given, but if Malificent is in charge, I’ll be the first in line.
